Derbyshire Information, Advice and Support Service (DIASS) is the new name for the Parent Partnership Service. We provide independent information, advice and support to children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), as well as their parents and carers. This includes Autism, Aspergers, ADHD, Dyslexia or any other special educational need.
We also support children, young people and parents affected by exclusion from school.
We aim to help parents and carers increase their involvement in the education of their children and ensure that they have access to information and advice about issues relating to the child or young person's health and social care.
From 1 September 2014 we had a change of service name because of changes in law related to the new Children and Families Act and the new special educational needs and disability (SEND) code of practice. We now offer support for children and young people with SEND from birth to 25 years old.
We remain impartial, confidential, and work at arm's length from the local authority. Our advice is free and accessible to all parents of children with SEND. We now also offer support for children and young people with SEND.
